Habits To Achieve Success

Hi, I’m Luis Garcia and let me ask you a few questions. Do you find yourself having a hard time believing in your decisions and therefore you find yourself losing faith on what it is you are doing? Do you have a hard time being clear on what decision to make in order to succeed in what it is that you are doing? Do you lose focus and direction when you are seeking to accomplish your daily goals? Does it frustrate you that you can’t focus and follow through when you know you need too in order to complete your goals? Do you feel agitated and scared that perhaps you are wasting time? If you answered yes to one or more to any of these questions, in this video I will talk about a few habits that you need in order to achieve success in anything that you do in life whether that be career, relationships, and even raising a family. So stay tuned.

Decisions Goal Planning

So on with today’s topic. A big part of being successful and productive is being able to prioritize what you should be doing and what you shouldn’t be doing these are important habits to achieve success. Those can be tough decisions to make, particularly when it involves other people or giving up on a project that you’ve put a lot of hard work and soul into already and it’s hard for you to let that go. Sometimes it is also hard to see the right path and determine what the best decision is. Here are a few tips to help you make the best decisions possible.

Keep The Big Picture In Mind

So, let’s start with the first question which is, do you find yourself having a hard time believing in your decisions and therefore you find yourself losing faith on what you are doing? It’s easy to find yourself stuck in the details or lose faith on your projects when you are working on the little parts of your projects as sometimes that small tunnel vision can make it hard to notice any progress as you lose sight of the bigger picture.

Small goals are important to accomplish of course but if you get stuck and are losing faith, keep your big goal or your big vision front and center. Write your bigger vision down and post it on your desk or on your bathroom mirror. Not only will this keep you motivated as you remind yourself of the bigger picture, but it will also serve as a sort of compass that will keep you on the right path and for you to complete your daily tasks so that you can get closer to completion.

Stay Organized

My other question was, do you have a hard time being clear on what decision to make in order to succeed on what it is you are doing? It’s easy to get confused and be unable to make decisions when your surroundings and your mind are cluttered. Staying organized when it comes to what you’re working on is key. Keep your files in order so that it’s easy to find the information you need to make an important decision. Being organized help by keeping a clear path on your goals which helps to make clear decisions to reach your goals. Getting in the habit of staying organized instead of functioning from a place of clutter will make it easier to make the decisions needed to prioritize the important tasks and work efficiently to get things done.

Make The Time To Review

If you lose focus and direction when you can’t see what is working and what is not when you’re in the middle of things, then set aside time each week to step back and analyze your progress. Look at your overall map that you lay out for yourself when you created your goals. Again, step back and look at the big picture so you can see how the small daily goals eventually complete the overall goal - and from there decide what’s working well and what’s not.

This is the beauty of zooming out to see the bigger picture so that you can understand what to do on a daily basis. Correct your course as needed and decide if it’s time to change things up and pull the plug on something that is not helping you. Operating this way will help you to be sure of what decision to make and to stay focus and stay consistence to what works.

The more often you make those tough decisions, the easier it will be to make them which is a great habits to achieve success. With time and experience, you’ll also get better at judging what the best choice is. The road to success is full of learning opportunities and let this practice teach you how to make affective decisions. Don’t be afraid to fail or make the wrong decision as you will learn from every single decision. Failing fast and failing often can actually be the quickest way to success contrary to popular belief as failure informs you of what will work.

Focus And Discipline Can Get You There

One of the secrets to success is to set big goals. We have to stretch ourselves and move past our comfort zone to truly become successful. In fact, building the resilience to be comfortable to work outside of your comfort zone can be a goal to consciously attain in your personal development as resilience is a great habits to achieve success. Working on big goals can help us do just that. Of course, that’s easier said than done. The good news is that if you can work on improving just two skill-sets, success will become much easier as these becomes automated habits to achieve success. Let’s look at focus and discipline. They work hand in hand to help you reach your goals no matter how far your goals may seem.

What Is Focus

Earlier I had asked, does it frustrate you that you can’t focus and follow through when you know you need too in order to complete your goals? With that being said, let’s look at one very important skill-set to have which is focus, so what is it really? Being able to focus is the ability to concentrate on one particular task at a time. It keeps you from getting distracted and helps you make progress on what’s most important. Focus gives you clarity, purpose, and the drive to see it through. To get better at focusing on the important task at hand, write them down and accept that those are the tasks that need to get done.

What Is Discipline

Discipline is just as important when it comes to avoiding distractions. It’s the skill to make yourself get things done even when you don’t feel like it. Here is an important tip to develop habits to achieve success, make whatever you need to get done - fun! Rather than power through like a drill Sargent, play some music in the background and make it fun and enjoyable to get what needs to be done completed and you’ll feel better for it.

However, if it’s in your personality to be the drill Sargent to get things done then that is fine if that works for you. I will talk about personality types later so you can understand how you operate more effectively - so look out for those videos later on. Regardless to what I’m saying, to get better at discipline, you need to practice it daily. Make it a point not to be distracted and keep going for the day until your important tasks are done for the day and that it can be checked off as completed in the evening.

Why You Need Both Habits To Achieve Success

While there are many other success skills needed throughout life, there’s a reason I’m mentioning these two together. Discipline helps you work on something day in and day out. Focus helps you stay on target and not get distracted. Think of it like going on a long walk to a specific destination. Let’s say a hike - and the end goal is to make it to the top of the mountain. Discipline will make sure you keep walking even when you’re tired and when you don’t feel like hiking anymore. Basically discipline is action and the consistent energy you use to take action.

Focus on the other hand helps you strategize and target the best route to lead the situation. Without focus, you could end up walking around in circles without making any real progress. Without discipline, you won’t be able to take the thousands of steps it will take to make it to the top and make it through any setbacks or difficulties you encounter along the way. Discipline is the physical energy you use to take action and focus is the strategic concentration and leadership to understand what direction to take to succeed these two are very important habits to achieve success. These two truly complement each other and create a flow that leads to success with greater ease.

Being Organized Can Help You Succeed

Now, earlier I had asked, do you feel agitated and scared that perhaps you are wasting time? Again, there are a lot of different habits and skill-sets that come into play when it comes to being successful that I will also share in other videos. However, to add to the few that I’m already talking about, being organized and being on time are two more good habits and skill-sets that can make a huge difference in your day-to-day life. Think back on some of the most successful people you’ve met in your life, or successful people that you heard of. The chances are they were good at being organized and being on time.

There’s a reason why both of these factors will make such a big difference when it comes to being successful. Both being on time and organized can help you make the best possible use of your time and energy. When referring to energy, it includes both mental and physical. We have a limited supply of both along with being restricted to 24 hours in a given day. In other words, both time and energy are limited resources and so it is best to use both of them wisely.

The way how being on time and staying organized help is by making the most out of our time so that we can think, make decision, and take action efficiently in order for us to progress in a timely manner and for us to accomplish our goals. Understand that with focus, discipline, being organized, and being on time, these successful habits are complementary to each other. Let’s look at some example of how being on time and staying organized can hurt you and help you and then briefly discuss how to get better at them.

Being On Time And Being Organized Saves You Time

How much time have you wasted this week looking for a misplaced item or a file? How about your car keys? How much time have you wasted because you didn’t show up on time for an appointment? And, what’s worst, wasting the time of others who were waiting for you. Making an effort to be on time and staying organized will help you save precious time and energy. Being on time is all about time management and having the awareness of time. Work will always stretch out into however much time you give it. Becoming more aware and better at time management will help you work more efficiently.

Showing up late for an appointment or an interview makes you look bad and it teaches the people who are waiting for you not to rely on you to much or not at all. Also being unprepared or having to dig around for a few minutes to find something important while everyone is waiting for you - is also time consuming. That is particularly bad when it comes to first impressions. Work on getting better at both, and people will see you as the expert in your field.

How To Get Better At Both

So what it comes down to is getting into the habit of being conscious of time and staying on top of organizational tasks. Yes, if you’re exceptionally disorganized it will take some up-front work to clear things up. Once completed though, it takes very little effort to put things back in their place and to stay organized. That is true for physical items, digital items, and even thoughts and ideas. So the short answer in getting better at these skill-sets is to just practice both - being on time and staying organized on a daily basis until they become ingrained habits.

So to practice on getting better with these particular successful habits, set some goals that you can practice on a daily basis where you have to practice these particular habits. So for example, make it a goal to keep your office - such as your paper work and your entire house clean for a full two months. Learn to create a system where the daily system creates a flow where you can accomplish keeping your work space clean on a daily basis and where the system also helps you keep your focus and discipline in place.

Another example, deliberately make appointments and show up 15 minutes before the appointment ready to go and watch how you and the people you are meeting are affected in a positive way. These are some tips and trick that you can apply right way in order for you to begin to acquire these particular habits to achieve success. Habits that will make success come easier for you simply because your mind will automatically operate in the nature of success as a result of these few successful habits.

With these successful habits you will believe in your decisions and keep your faith in what it is that you are doing. You will save valuable time and maintain a clear focus on what you need to do, and with discipline you will accomplish your goals and feel great about yourself. All successful people practice these habits to achieve success and since it works for them - it will work for you when you apply them correctly.
